What Are The Different Kinds Of Poker Formats You Can Play Online?

Online casinos have risen in popularity over the last few years. This is proven by the fact that the user base for online poker alone has grown by 255% since April 2020 – which is an impressive feat in its own right. And though physical establishments are coming back into popularity, their digital counterpart shows no signs of slowing down. If you want to get into playing this online game yourself, these are just a few of the formats that many people are playing:

Multi-tabling

Multi-tabling is when a poker player plays several poker games/tournaments at the same time. This is a popular format among those who play online poker for real money because it allows them to potentially earn a lot more than playing single matches. Most top poker platforms offer the ability to multi-table. There are two ways to multi-table – tiling and stacking. Tiling is where you have all the poker games on the screen – the number of games determined by the amount of space on the screen. Stacking is where you only play and see the poker game when it is your hand. This allows for many more games, but makes playing much harder as you are unable to see the whole game. Due to the intense nature of playing more than one poker game at the same time it is only recommended for experienced online poker players.

Sit ‘n’ go

In comparison to multi-tabling, sit ‘n’ go games are a lot more casual. Matches begin as soon as the virtual table is full and last anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes. Once a game is over, the victor wins the whole pot, and players can immediately opt to join another match. Sit ‘n’ go events use real money, and tournaments on top platforms can feature up to 100+ players. There are also many different types of Sit ‘n’ go poker available, catering to every type of poker player. These range from traditional poker games to games with very fast blind raises, which increase the speed of the game. Most players who are new to online poker will start with Sit & Go.

Free Poker

Free poker is where players can experience poker without having to play for real money. Instead virtual in-house money is used. Since these providers don’t require players to use real money to play, this is also a good way for inexperienced players to practice their poker strategies, such as mathematical poker theory. While playing for virtual money is a good way to better understand the game, the lack of consequence means that many players will likely not play with the same caution. This can make it a much more unpredictable game than regular real money poker.

If you are interested in playing online poker we hope one of the above types of poker suits you. For more articles like this, be sure to check out our lifestyle section to keep up with the latest updates.
