Everyone, when they were children, had plans of making their dream house into a reality. So, as we grew older, much of our efforts in studying and working became more aligned with us building our home in the future. Now that you have the means to buy supplies, hire workers, and design your dream house, surely every step of the building process will be meticulous. You want every part of your home to be perfect, but, inevitably, you might encounter various problems when building your home. So, you can prepare for these problems; listed here are the common ones.
- Soundproof rooms or not?
Privacy has always been a big problem in homes, especially for adolescents who need the freedom to explore their capabilities. With them in mind, your home might need soundproofed rooms so their privacy is not encroached on. When family members are playing loud music or fighting, you will not hear a thing and live peacefully in your dream home. Thankfully you can make this feature happen by customising your party walls or the walls between houses. You can ask a party wall expert about this, but you will need to pay party wall surveyor fees before the construction can start.
- Brick walls or not?
Heavy rains occur here and there in this age as global warming alters the whole temperature of the earth, prompting more water to be produced and dispersed through the rain. Bricks make the best walls, since bricks, when put together, absorb moisture. Your house can be a flood-free residence. Bricks also give a rustic feel to your home, making it more attractive to passers-by. If you are into modern architecture though, you might want to leave out brick walls and instead install an anti-flood system. You can elevate your house or put a drainage system in your front lawn. You can also set a warning system that will alert your family when water from flooding reaches your front yard.
- Centralised airconditioning system or not?
Being cocooned in one’s home all day long without any ventilation can get tiring and uncomfortable – even more so when families gather in the living room, and no fans are available, especially during hot summer days. The problem needs a solution in the form of a centralised airconditioning system. With this system, anywhere you step inside your house, you get to experience cold and fresh air. There is no room for heat in the whole house, except in the kitchen, making your daily activities more comfortable and enjoyable. This system, though, has its cons as the cost of your electricity bills may skyrocket.
In making your dreams come true, you might have to go through numerous struggles. In the case of building your dream house, these struggles may come in the form of investing in ventilation, anti-flood systems, and soundproofing. You need to think thoroughly about everything before you decide.
