Living a healthy lifestyle provides us with so man benefits yet there are still an alarming number of people who simply don’t look after themselves in this regard. A healthy lifestyle greatly reduces your risk of premature death and illnesses in later life, it gives us more energy, more focus and more opportunities to achieve what we set out to achieve. On top of this, a healthy lifestyle ensures that we both look and feel our best, and it is in all of our best interests to look after our bodies.
Many of us aren’t sure what a healthy lifestyle is exactly, after all they don’t exactly teach that in high school. To help you out then, we spoke with Dr John Clemenza to get some top tips on how you get be healthier, read on and give it a shot.
Water
The importance of water can not be overstated and we should all be making sure that each day, we take on enough water. The general guidelines are that men should be consuming 3 – 4 litres of water daily, and women should be drinking 2 – 3 litres of water each day. When our body is dehydrated, it negatively affects our organ function, our brain function as well as our overall appearance so make sure that you start drinking more H2O.
Skincare Routine
Looking good on the outside is just as important as feeling good on the inside and so a regular skincare routine holds many benefits. Try to focus on this each night with a deep cleanse, tone and moisturise, you could also try out the benefits of a cosmetic facial which can cleanse the pores of the skin, leaving you looking and feeling great about your skin.
Regulating Vices
When it comes to our vices, there are some which you must cut out altogether, and others which you must regulate in order to lead a healthier lifestyle. If you are a smoker or partake in drug use, this must stop immediately if you want to be healthier. When it comes to alcohol, sugary drinks, sweet treats or over-indulgence of fatty foods, you must regulate and manage this in order to balance your diet. There is nothing wrong with the occasional blowout, but occasional must be the most important word in this sentence.
Exercise
Diet is of course important, but so too is exercise and if you want to be the healthiest you that you can be, you should be trying to perform at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. Your exercise routine doesn’t necessarily have to be intense, but it should be regular. Exercise greatly increases body and brain function, it will help you to stay in shape and it will ensure that you feel great and are filled with energy throughout the day.
